1. Introduction

 

Welcome to Luke’s Skate Lessons! 

 

Our mission is to provide a fun, safe, and structured learning environment where students of all ages and skill levels can develop their skateboarding abilities. 

 

This manual outlines the policies and procedures to ensure a smooth experience for students, parents, and instructors.

 

2. Code of Conduct

    •    Respect instructors, fellow students, and skatepark visitors.

    •    Follow all safety instructions on park signs and listen to instructors.

    •    No bullying, roughhousing, or inappropriate language.

    •    Take care of equipment and skatepark facilities.

 

3. Safety Rules

    •    Follow all skatepark rules posted on signs. 

    •    Helmets are mandatory for all students.

    •    Knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards are highly recommended.

    •    No skating outside designated lesson areas.

    •    Always be aware of surroundings and other skaters.

 

4. Attendance & Scheduling

    •    Students should arrive 10 minutes early to prepare.

    •    Late arrivals may not receive extra time.

    •    Missed lessons must be rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance.

    •    No-shows will not receive refunds or rescheduling options.

 

5. Payment & Refund Policy

    •    Payment is due before the first lesson.

    •    Refunds are only issued if a cancellation is made 48 hours before the first session.

    •    No refunds for no-shows unless due to a medical emergency.

 

6. Equipment Requirements

    •    All students must bring their own skateboard.

    •    Loaner skateboards are available upon request.

    •    Proper footwear (skate shoes or sneakers) is required—no sandals.

    •    Helmets are mandatory.

    •    Wrist, Elbow, and Knee guards are highly recommended.

 

7. Lesson Structure

    •    Warm-up and stretching (5-10 minutes).

    •    Skill drills and progression exercises.

    •    Supervised practice with instructor feedback.

    •    Cool-down and review.

 

8. Supervision & Bathroom Breaks

    •    Scheduled bathroom breaks where all instructors and students go to the bathroom halfway through Camp / Group lessons.

    •    Instructors will supervise students at all times.

    •    Students must inform an instructor if they need a bathroom break.

     •   Students that need a bathroom break outside of the scheduled break must be accompanied by an instructor and another student.

 

9. Injury & Emergency Procedures

    •    Instructors are trained in basic first aid.

    •    Minor injuries will be treated on-site with a first aid kit.

    •    Parents will be notified immediately in case of injury.

    •    911 will be called for any serious injuries.

 

10. Weather & Cancellations

    •    Lessons will be canceled for heavy rain, lightning, or extreme heat.

    •    Light rain or wet surfaces may result in modified lessons.

    •    Cancellations will be communicated via text or email.

    •     Lessons cancelled due to weather will be rescheduled or refunded.

 

11. Communication Policy

    •    All updates and schedule changes will be sent via email and text.

    •    Parents can contact instructors via phone or email for any concerns.

 

12. Parental Involvement

    •    Parents are welcome to watch but should not interfere with lessons.

    •    Parents must be available by phone during lessons.

    •    For young students, parents may assist with restroom breaks if needed.

 

13. Disciplinary Actions

    •    First offense: Verbal warning.

    •    Second offense: Parent notification.

    •    Third offense: Possible suspension from lessons.

 

14. Waivers & Liability

    •    All students must have a signed waiver before participating.

    •    Luke’s Skate Lessons are not responsible for personal belongings.

    •    Parents acknowledge that skateboarding carries inherent risks.
